9 January 2026 (2082/9/25) marked a meaningful day for our hospital team as we took another step toward improving community dental health. With the belief that healthy habits begin at a young age, our dental outreach program was carried out across several primary schools, focusing on awareness, prevention, and care.
The journey began at Shree Chaurikhola Primary School, located in Chauri Deurali Rural Municipality–Ward No. 2. Our hospital’s Dental Surgeon, Dr. Sabina Suwal, led the session with great care and warmth. She patiently demonstrated proper tooth-brushing techniques and explained the importance of daily oral hygiene in a way that young students could easily understand.
A total of 13 students participated in the program—6 girls and 7 boys—each eager to learn and actively involved throughout the session. At the end of the program, every student received a toothbrush and toothpaste, ensuring they could immediately put their new knowledge into practice. The smiles on their faces reflected not just excitement, but empowerment.
Following this, the team conducted a similar dental awareness program at Mahakali Primary School, also located in Chauri Deurali Rural Municipality–Ward No. 2. Here, 12 students took part in the session, including 8 girls and 4 boys. Once again, students were taught the correct methods of cleaning their teeth and maintaining oral hygiene. The program concluded with the distribution of toothbrushes and toothpaste to all participants, reinforcing the importance of consistency in dental care.
Our outreach then extended to Shree Darga Primary School, situated in Doramba Sailung Rural Municipality–Ward No. 4, Darga. This dental camp reached a larger group, with 23 students (9 female and 14 male) receiving hands-on guidance on proper oral hygiene practices. Toothpaste and brushes were distributed, and dental checkups were conducted as part of the camp.
Across all outreach activities, a total of 48 participants were involved, supported by only one vehicles for mobility and logistics. During the dental examinations, 10 individuals successfully underwent tooth extraction, while many others were identified as needing further cleaning and preventive dental care. These findings highlighted the urgent need for continued dental awareness and early intervention among students.
This initiative was not just about cleaning teeth—it was about preserving smiles, building healthy habits, and creating awareness for a lifetime. The success of this program would not have been possible without the wholehearted support of the school administrations, teachers, students, and the entire school community.
We extend our sincere gratitude to everyone who participated and supported this effort. Together, we are making a difference—one smile at a time.
